Hi,
It was St Mary's 1970 Class first and only blood donation campaign.
Check if you can recognise all the budding Sylvester Stallones in the photo.
You will not miss Victor Sin in all the recent photo postings (Toy Boy, To Sir With Love, The Young Ones) as they are his photo collections!

"First Blood" is the name of the Hollywood movie which shot Sylvester Stallone to stardom fame.....

How come some of us were missing from the photo? Either too scared or too stingy? Again, my memory is failing as the photo did not seem to make me recall the event at all!

The photo was also taken in year 1970. Not all the blood donors are from our class. Some are from Form 4 and 6. From our class are Foo Ka Hung, Chong Nyuk Voo, Chong Nyuk Fong, Phun Vui Poh, Jimmy Augustin, Dahalan, Sulaiman Hamdam, Sin Ka Hiew and Ismail Ahmad.
Sin Ka Hiew
Oh,
Ismail Ahmad is a name which totally escapes my recollection.
At the side, was the guy in glasses called Thomas Tan? He was the brighest kid in Sabah for Form 5 anf Form 6 Govet Exams.? A Shell scholarship holder and since migrated to Canada?
To answer Hubert poser, of course, all the "calculative" guys in our class won't show up to donate blood!
I had a vivid recollection of the blood donation campaign. First, there was the blood sample been taken from all the volunteers in school, me included. They came back later to draw blood from the donors. I was confirmed OK to donate.
Everyone laughed at me for wanting to donate when I was so skinny (then....less than 100 lbs... its only when I was in Form 6 that my weight breached the 100 lb mark)
So with a straight face, I told the European lady (from St John Ambulance?) that my classmates told me that I was not fit to donate. She reassured me that I was based on the sample taken. When I refused, she scolded me! That's why, as soon as I saw the blood donation photo, this recollection came to my mind.
Up to now, I have never donated blood although Harrisons Sports Club organised several blood donations in public venues as part of its corporate social responsibility.

I honestly can't remember what I did - did I donate, hide in the toilet or pass out on seeing blood?
Anyway, I have donated blood in HK on and off, maybe at least 20 times up to now. My wife does not want me to donate now as I'm getting old. Is there an age limit as such? I guess there may be some truth in her advice. There is also a risk of getting aids from contamination from the needles in the rare event of a nurse's carelessness!
