Planning for Reunion - Sandakan - 24 September 2011

Hi Old boys,

This Saturday afternoon, we met and had lunch in the Sandakan Curry House, hosted by Francis Fong. We had Jorgy Juana, Sin Ka Hiew, Francis Fong, Chong Shui Lun, Phun Vui Poo, Chiang Piang Thiam and myself there to plan forward on our 11 Nov 2011 Reunion.

At the Curry House, Jorgy introduced another St Mary's Old Boy who happened to pass by. He is Tony Yong who left us in Form 3 for Australia and used to stay in Sanny Estate. He expressed his interest to join the Reunion and we got his phone contact.

Jorgy was also keen to invite former Teachers to our Reunion and he was tasked on this.

Five proposed venues were suggested for consideration - Sabah Hotel, Ocean King, City Club, Mark Lodge and Sandakan Golf Club. As Mark Lodge received favourable comments, it was decided by Ka Hiew and Francis to visit the preferred venue  - Mark Lodge in Taman Indah Jaya after our lunch. Jorgy, Shui Lun and myself joined them for the venue visit.

After inspecting the Mark Lodge function room, the consensus was that it is the preferred venue as we can have exclusive use of the function room and the food catered by Mark Lodge is Halal for our Muslim classmates. Parking will be no problem too. However, the function room is on the first floor and using another entrance ( ie not the Main Entrance to Mark Lodge as shown in the photo) on the same block.

The lunch started at 12.30 pm and we parted about 3 pm after our visit to Mark Lodge.
