SANDAKAN RAINFOREST JOG - 25 MARCH 2016
On Friday, 25 March 2016, our Sandakan Old Boys arranged for an afternoon jog in Sandakan Rainforest Park for Kar Choi and Kon Sang when they flew in to Sandakan from Kota Kinabalu for the Double Happiness St Mary Old Boys Reunion in Sandakan.
Khen Foh was there at the Airport to extend his warm welcome on behalf of our Sandakan Old Boys.
In a way, the afternoon jog was Khen Foh way of putting the KK Visitors to a Fitness Test. Kar Choi went through it in flying colours but Kon Sang was seen struggling and wanting to be snapshot at every turn. It was his way of taking a breather along the trail without been seen to be unfit and out of breath.

At the base cafe, all the participating Old Boys relished the ice cold drinks before they went back to change for the Reunion Dinner in Francis Fong residence.

CNY GATHERING IN KOTA KINABALU
12 FEBRUARY 2016 - FRIDAY
On the 5th Day of CNY, Ken Foh and Vui Poo who were visiting K Kinabalu met with some KK Old Boys for a satay feast and cool Heineken beer in KK town.
It was a day after Ken Foh birthday which he celebrated in K Kinablau and Vui Poh also came over to spend CNY with his daughter in Menggatal. So, a meeting after CNY was a bright idea pursued by Ken Foh with Hee Menn and KK Old Boys who could spare the time responded with enthusiasm to the call.
It was brilliantly proposed by Ken Foh that all Old Boys should wear CNY red to the meet. Despite initial reservation, Hee Menn , the Organiser, relented and put on a CNY red polo. Kon Sang went home during lunch hour to change from his office attire into something CNY red. Leong Ming Yee also had to look for a red shirt although CNY red is not his popular colour. You could imagine the utter dismay when HM, KS and LMY found, the proposer - Ken Foh, was donning a dark tone polo! Neither did KChoi put on CNY red although he messaged his support for Kfoh motion on CNY red ! Vui Poh could be excused as he might have run out of anything red, being from outstation, after wearing red on 3 consecutive days - from 1st to 3rd Day of CNY.
Notwithstanding our diversity in different tones of red, we all enjoyed our meet over beef and chicken satay in a coffee shop followed by cool Heineken in air condition comfort inside Mad Ben along Gaya Street from 3-6 pm.
Not forgetting to thank Hee Menn for picking up the bill for the delicious satay and Vui Poh for the cool and refreshing drinks.

HI TEA - DONGONGONG
Contacted on Friday by Ken Foh for a meet up during his visit to K Kinabalu ( 22-24 Jan 2016), we eventually met up in Kedai Kopi Shin Hin from 2 - 5 pm on a Sunday afternoon.
At 2 pm, Kon Sang fetched Ken Foh from KPJ Hospital and Kar Choi from his luxury condominium and headed towards Dongongong. We were indeed pleasantly surprised when Sim Kang Loong turned up at our hi tea gathering despite his busy schedule. Our regulars - Tommy, Kar Choi, Ken Foh & Kon Sang - were there too.
Francis Fong also called in from Sandakan and had a good chat with Kang Loong and reminded us of the upcoming March 2016 reunion in Sandakan.
It was indeed a delightful afternoon hi tea when Old Boys shared their tales with each other before we dispersed.

SATAY PARTY - LOTUS RESTAURANT - DAH YEH - KK
On 14 October 2015, Kwan Kar Choi hosted a Satay Party to catch up with KK Old Boys on the latest happenings.
This is the 2nd time Kar Choi hosted the gathering - his first was Seafood Lunch in Kak Leng followed by this Satay Party.
Kon Sanfg hosted the 2nd Seafood Lunch in Kak Leng with Hee Meng hosting a Durian Feast as lunch dessert. Tommy hosted a Cocktail Dinner in Bukit Padanng Food Court too with Mooncake as dessert. More of Old Boys gatherings should come if KK Old Boys like it!
Khoo Puay Guan was unable to join us as he was celebrating a special occasion with his Love. Tommy Siew was flying from Burma to Thailand on a Solo Holiday and weren't able to attend. Sim Kang Loong was supposed to come but tied up in a meeting and apologized for his absence. The invitation was posted on the chat group and they responded and turned up at the Lotus Restaurant.
It was a smaller get together with Kwan Kar Choi, Chung Hee Meng, Wong Wan Kong, Leong Ming Yee and Chang Kon Sang.
We were there from 5.30-7.30 pm and the restaurant was packed and so Heee Meng choice was this popular eatery. We had pork satay and BBQ Fish over Tiger Beer.
We all reckoned Seafood Lunch in Kak Leng on a Saturday would be a good proposition with Satay Parties in between lunches to maintain our KK Old Boy network.
We thanked Hee Meng for coming up with the idea of a Satay Party and Kar Choi for hosting it on this public holiday (Start of the Muslim New Year).

On 19 August 2015, a Wednesday, KK Old Boys organised a Seafood Lunch & Durian Feast - a mini Reunion and also a Welcome Lunch for Edward Chik who was here for a stopover visit.
Attending the lunch were Chung Hee Meng, Edward Chik, Tommy Siew, Sim Kang Loong, Wong Wan Kong, John Liau, Leong Ming Yee, Kwan Kar Choi, Chong Tze Fah, Chang Kon Sang and by special invitation Philip Chong (Edward Chik friend from Sandakan). - making a total of 11.

Hee Meng hosted the follow up durian feast offering10 durians of different varieties. Other than a vegetable dish, Kak Leng cooked the seafood dishes for us in her kitchen from fish and prawns bought by Leong Ming Yee.
We have selected this eatery because it was Leong Ming Yee who introduced Kak Leng to us - she was from Sandakan and had worked in Bamboo Restaurant in Sim Sim and the Sandakan Central Night Market.
Kwan Kar Choi was the first to host the Lunch in this eatery a few months back.
We enjoyed a good chat and delicious seafood lunch from 12 noon to 2 pm before we dispersed.

St Mary's Old Boys Seafood Lunch at Kedai Makanan Kak Leng in Kolombong - K Kinabalu - 13 June 2015
Edmund Kwan invited K Kinabalu Old Boys to a lavish lunch on Saturday (13 June 2015) at Kedai Makanan Kak Leng in Kolombong.
This eatery is patronised by Richard Leong Min Yee for years. Richard will bring his catch of fresh seafood to this eatery and Kak Leng will cook it for him and his friends. Richard and friends even buy their own table and plates which they keep in the shop for their own exclusive and personal use.
Ka Leng is from Sandakan and she used to work in the night Central Market food stall and Restoran Bamboo in Sim Sim in the 60s.
Richard Leong introduced this eatery to me and I have become a regular. I also introduced Kak Leng to Kar Choi and he likes it too.
When Sandakan Old Boys were treated by Chai Hing Wing to a Labour Day Dinner in SRC Restoran, Kar Choi as K Kinabalu Old Boys natural leader also treated Kk based Old Boys to a lavish seafood lunch.
Kar Choi as the gracious host was particularly pleased with Sim Kang Loong turning up in his CNY red shirt. Hee Meng no show raised curiosity but he later explained on our chat group that
The lunch started at 12.30 pm and we had a hearty chat until 2.30 pm - the closing time for the eatery.
TQ Kar Choi

Coffee Shop Chatter - Tommy Kar Choi & Kon Sang
On this Saturday (24.1.2015), Kar Choi called me to meet up for lunch so that I could pass the Crystal Cruise brochures to him.
I called Tommy and he was only too pleased to join in and Kar Choi was kind enough to pick both of us up and headed to Inanam Ka Len Coffee Shop for a fried noodle lunch.
This eatery was highly recommended by our Leong Min Yee to Kon Sang who now patronised Kedai Kopi Ka Len regularly.
We felt we should meet for Saturday lunch or hi tea more regularly in KK just to catch up

Chong Khen Foh from Sandakan came over to Kota Kinabalu for Hari Raya and wanted to meet up with some St Mary's Old boys at his preferred Beringgis Beach Resort.
Khen Foh, Kar Choi, Tommy and Kon Sang first met in a Dongongon coffee shop at 3 pm waiting for Sim Kang Loong before proceeding to Beringgis. Tommy was supposed to fetch Kang Loong at 4 pm but he could not make it. We then proceeded to Beringgis after Kopi O and some "catching up" chit chat in the coffee shop.
Hee Meng and his friend joined us at Beringgis at 4.30 pm.
It was a good get together and we dispersed after Dinner at the Resort shortly after 8 pm to reach K Kinabalu at 9 pm. So it was Happy Time from 3pm - 9 pm on a lovely Sunday evening.
