人啊,都不講實話: 說股票是毒品,都在玩; 說金錢是罪惡,都在撈;
說美女是禍水,都想要; 說高處不勝寒,都在爬;
說煙酒傷身體,就不戒; 說天堂最美好,都不去!!!
當今社會,窮吃肉,富吃蝦,領導幹部吃王八;
男想高,女想瘦,狗穿衣裳人露肉;
過去把第一次留給丈夫; 現在把第一胎留給丈夫。
鄉下早晨雞叫人, 城裡晚上人叫雞;

I thought you attended only english school in S'kan. Looking at the chart, it's kind of sad to learn that we're almost at the end of the journey if we cross out 80-100 which a lot of us would like to but won't make it. Sounds depressing isn't it?

Well, I started school in Chi Hwa Chinese School at Mile 1 1/2, close to my father’s house. After Primary 3, I was transferred to St Cecelia (not sure if it had the same name then) where we were greatly outnumbered by girls. Having come from a Chinese school, it was a real struggle, besides feeling shy in front of all the girlie classmates. The next year we boys all got transferred to St Mary’s Labuk Road. (This arrangement was probably due to insufficient seats in St Mary’s earlier on?) My brother Robert and a few others got a double promotion; I just missed it by one position. So not surprisingly, I was no. 1 in the class from Primary 4 onwards every term until Form 1 when fierce competitions came from those guys from Town St. Mary’s which include Clement and Kwan Kar Choi.
I have also learned quite a bit of Chinese since coming to HK.
Yes, it’s pretty scary – we are near the other end of the spectrum of our life span. No need to feel depressed – look on the bright side. After retirement (government official retirement here is 60), I plan to do some freelancing in Quantity Surveying, writing some technical papers, practising & teaching Tai Chi, helping our preachers in their missionary work, etc.
What are your plans?
Hi Hubert,
I seriously think the Chinese verses come from your wife and not you. Or you just forwarded the article sent to you by a friend?
My Chinese is definitely better than yours... I reckon ... when we were in St Mary's but your years in HK might have brushed up your Chinese.
Tommy Siew is now enjoying himself again in China. He left on 25 August. A week before he left, we went out for lunch together on 18 August, a Monday.He parked his MPV in my car park and we went out in my car. Later in the evening, he could not find his pouch bag witht all his credit cards. It was stolen when he left it in his MPV over lunch as we came back atfter 3 pm. He came to my office on 24 August(Sunday)and between two of us, I typed out a report for him to lodge with the Police.The report recorded by the Police missed out a lot of points as our friend, Tommy, was then in shock. In my office, Tommy showed me several photos of his lovebird - a 23 year old Chines girl!

Clement,
I think your Chinese is still better than mine. Yes, the article was sent to me from my youngest brother. My wife won't have time for this kind of things!
Our Tommy is still the same happy-go-lucky Sapi Dog. Look, he lost his wallet and now he can still enjoy himself in China! And a love nest to come home to!
One Hong Kong lawmaker (Mr Chim)few years ago remarked and was reported by the press that all women are chickens! He was of course subsequently rebuked especially by the ladies.
Regards, Hubert
Hi Hubert, I still practicing the same plan since I semi-retired in 1999 & doing something I enjoy ie a)investing-stock mkt b)travelling c)stay healthy-lots of exercise.
Luckily, there's no age limit for my interests & people can still perform very well way into their 70's & 80's playing the mkt.
The only voluntary job I do is preparing income taxes for the low incomes during tax season(feb-april) yearly.
