Reunion of less than half the class?

Hi,

Are we planning a reunion of less than half the class? Is it possible to have a reunion of less than half the class?

It seems that we still have not been able to locate the whereabouts or establish email or any form of contact with the following gentlemen:-

1. Chong Nyuk Woo (Canada)
2. Wong Wan Kong (where?)
3. Julius Ho (where?)
4. Julian Chong Voon Hing (where?)
5. Lawrence Chung Hee Meng (where?)
6. Poon Vui Po (where?)
7. Khoo Puay Kuan (where?)
8. Chin Lee Wah (Sandakan but where?)
9. Ho Chi Min (where?)
10. Jimmy Augustine (where?)
11. Sulaiman bin Hamdan (where?)
12. Kenneth bin Awang (where?)
13. Francis Fong (where?)
14. Chu Sai Kee (Sandakan but where?)
15. Chang Piang Tiam (Sandakan but where?)
16. Jimmy Gimbad (Sandakan but where)
17. John Bagiu (where)
18. Sim Kang Loon (where)
19. Many more (where)

That's why I believe we'll need at least 5 years to locate them and bring them on board. Wthout them, it's going to be a reunion of less than half the class!

Once we landed in Sandakan, we can easily drop invitation cards at Klinik Ong, Camera Studio and C H Koh & Co. But it's not going to be so simple with regard to those gentlemen listed above.

Can anyone suggest some bright ideas?

Cheers,
James

James,

Some of the guys you mentioned have their email addresses in the list being kept/updated by Richard. Even as we send some messages to "St. Mary's Old Boys" group, they should have received them but for some reasons, they seem too shy to write to the group. I'm sure some of them must have been reading our messages in the blog (e.g. Victor Ng - he even sent one of his photos taken in the Chemistry lab in St Mary's, but that was the last we heard from him!). I wonder if writing individually to them will help.

Wait for Richard to come up with some ideas since he has just come back from Sabah recently and has met some of them.

In fact, on the contrary, I was thinking (or wishing) that if we organize it properly as a gala ball with a high profile, other years' old boys including old (should refer them as "young") girls from St Cecelia might want to join us! But the main focus will still be on us the 1970 graduates of Form 5.

Hubert,

Expanding the gathering to include other years' groups has some merit but the project might become unmanageable. No one will have the time and resources to do it at ground zero unless people like Albert Koh is willing to use his office as a sort of recruitment centre.

When almost everyone is nearing 60 or already passed 60, who is interested in dancing at a ball? Not me! My wife will say, "Are you out of your mind? You go and pick a younger bird."

Cheers,
James

Hi, the few active members, I was tasked by Richard to contact Fung Tze Chow, Chiang Oian Thiam, Chu Sai Kee and Chin Lee Wah.....

I got Fung Tze Chow hphone number 0138655381 but when I called that number, it appeared eithet he was out of range or its service was terminated. Will try again...

I should be able to get Chin Lee Wah contact as his son is working in our Sandakan office.

I should also be getting Chiang Piam Thiam and Chu Sai Ki contact through their ex- Sabah Ports Authority colleague. But Khen Foh is also able to contact them in Sandakan.

Thomas Siew and Sim Kang Loon should be ok for me.

Hi,

Chin Lee Wah House No - 089-214096 (did not give his handphone number).

Email address : cck sapie@ hotmail.com

By now, we should all realise not all ex classmates, for one reason or another, show the same degree of enthusiasm towards a re-union or re-establish contactas as the few active guys.

So half a class is better than no re-union as age is catching on!
